Similar triangles are two or more triangles that have all corresponding angles that are equal and all corresponding sides that are proportionate.
These triangles are all similar: (Equal angles have been marked with the same number of arcs) Some of them have different sizes and some of them have been turned or flipped.
If two angles of a triangle have measures equal to the measures of two angles of another triangle, then the triangles are similar. Corresponding sides of similar polygons are in proportion, and corresponding angles of similar polygons have the same measure.
What Makes Triangles Similar?
Let's take a look at these triangles. There are probably a few things that stand out right away. Maybe you noticed that they are rotated in different directions or that the triangle on the left is larger than the one on the right. Maybe you even noticed that the two triangles share similar markings on their angles. All of these are important characteristics when working with similar triangles.
