Indian general election 2019

The Indian general elections, 2019 are expected to be held in April and May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha.

Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir will be held simultaneously with the general elections.

Electoral system

The 543 elected MPs will be elected from single-member constituencies using first-past-the-post voting. The President of India nominates an additional two members from the Anglo-Indian community if he believes the community is under-represented.

Eligible voters must be Indian citizens, 18 or older, an ordinary resident of the polling area of the constituency and possess a valid voter identification card issued by the Election Commission of India. Some people convicted of electoral or other offences are barred from voting.

Elections Schedule
ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్, తెలంగాణతో పాటు 22 రాష్ట్రాలు, కేంద్ర పాలిత ప్రాంతాల్లో తొలి దశలోనే ఎన్నికలు జరగనున్నాయి. ఏప్రిల్ 11న తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లోని లోక్సభ స్థానాలతో పాటు ఏపీ అసెంబ్లీకి ఎన్నికలు నిర్వహించనున్నారు. మే 23న ఓట్ల లెక్కింపు చేపట్టనున్నారు. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లోని 175 అసెంబ్లీ స్థానాలు, 25 లోక్సభ నియోజకవర్గాలతో పాటు, తెలంగాణలోని 17లోక్సభ స్థానాలకూ ఏప్రిల్ 11నే ఎన్నికలు జరగనున్నాయి.

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌, తెలంగాణల్లో ఎన్నికల షెడ్యూల్‌ ఇలా..!

• ఎన్నికల నోటిఫికేషన్‌: మార్చి 18న
• నామినేషన్ల దాఖలుకు చివరి తేదీ: మార్చి 25
• నామినేషన్ల పరిశీలన: మార్చి 26
• నామినేషన్ల ఉపసంహరణ: మార్చి 28
• పోలింగ్‌: ఏప్రిల్‌ 11న
• ఓట్ల లెక్కింపు: మే 23న

దేశవ్యాప్తంగా సార్వత్రిక ఎన్నికల నగారా మోగింది. నాలుగు రాష్ట్రాల అసెంబ్లీలతో పాటు లోక్‌సభ ఎన్నికల షెడ్యూల్‌ను కేంద్ర ఎన్నికల సంఘం ప్రకటించింది. దిల్లీలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన మీడియా సమావేశంలో ఈ మేరకు కేంద్ర ఎన్నికల ప్రధాన కమిషనర్‌ సునీల్‌ అరోడా ఎన్నికల షెడ్యూల్‌ను వెల్లడించారు. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌, ఒడిశా, సిక్కిం, అరుణాచల్‌ ప్రదేశ్‌ రాష్ట్రాల అసెంబ్లీలతో పాటు లోక్‌సభ  స్థానాల్లో ఎన్నికలు జరగనున్నాయి. మొత్తం ఏడు దశల్లో ఈ ఎన్నికలు జరగనున్నాయి. ఏప్రిల్‌ 11న తొలి దశ ఎన్నికలు నిర్వహించనున్నారు. రెండో దశ ఏప్రిల్‌ 18, మూడో దశ ఏప్రిల్‌ 23, నాలుగో దశ ఏప్రిల్‌ 29, ఐదో దశ మే6న, ఆరో దశ మే 12, ఏడో దశ మే19న నిర్వహించనున్నట్లు అరోడా తెలిపారు. మే 23న ఎన్నికల ఫలితాలను వెల్లడించనున్నట్లు అరోడా పేర్కొన్నారు. షెడ్యూల్‌ ప్రకటనతో తక్షణమే దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ఎన్నికల కోడ్‌ అమల్లోకి వచ్చింది. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో 175, ఒడిశాలో 147, అరుణాచల్‌ ప్రదేశ్‌లో 60, సిక్కింలో 32 శాసనసభ స్థానాలకు ఎన్నికలు నిర్వహించనున్నారు.
